This summer, we were planning a family art night to offer families impacted by domestic and sexual violence an opportunity to have fun, connect, and create together. We provided some food and a variety of art projects for youth and families. One of the art projects that families could participate in was this Cards by Survivors project. If survivors wanted to, they could create a piece of art and submit it to be used for this project. Then, several submissions were chosen to be made into cards that we could sell to donors in the community.
Where the money goes
100% of proceeds from this project go to supporting future events like this because we believe that it is important to offer families who are healing from abuse, opportunities to have fun, connect, and create together.
We can use donations and funds generated through projects like this to purchase art supplies, food, and other materials that we may need to host future family events. It can be hard to find grants willing to pay for these types of supplies.
Why We Make Art
These family art nights are not therapeutic art programs. (We are hoping to do that in the future.) Yet art can still be a powerful tool for self-expression and a great way to have fun! Click on the button to read more about why making art is so important for our survivors.
