About Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center

Providing shelter and services for victims of domestic violence (DV) including women, children, men and family pets since 2000

With 56 beds Turning Pointe operates one of the largest domestic violence shelters in the state.  Our shelter was built in 2008 and is unique in that we allow clients to bring their pets to the shelter. This is especially important because victims of domestic violence often stay in an abusive home because they are not willing to leave their pets with the abuser.

Thank you for calming me down and listening. I have been living with this violence for over 10 years and have never told anyone. You made my heart smile today. Thank you for caring.

I truly am grateful for all your hard work making sure survivors have a safe place. Thank you.

Thanks for listening and believing me. No one wants to believe men are victims or that men need help, but we do.

How we help

We make a difference in the lives of people going through a very traumatic time.

TURNING POINTE’S
ADOPT-A-ROOM PROGRAM

Be a part of making our shelter rooms warm and welcoming for the women, men and children that come to us seeking safety.

Families often times come to us with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. When they finally are able to enter their room, we want them to feel welcomed and cared for.

Contact Courtney@turningpointe.org for more information on how YOU can support our Shelter.

Cards By Survivors

Purchase cards with art created by the youth and families supported by the center.

Set of 6 – 5×7 blank cards, includes envelopes
$12 plus $5 for shipping

This summer, we were planning a family art night to offer families impacted by domestic and sexual violence an opportunity to have fun, connect, and create together. We provided some food and a variety of art projects for youth and families. One of the art projects that families could participate in was this Cards by Survivors project. If survivors wanted to, they could create a piece of art and submit it to be used for this project. Then, several submissions were chosen to be made into cards that we could sell to donors in the community.

Hi friends! 👋 We wanted to share something really neat that happened last Friday. Becky submitted a haiku for a contest and they announced the winner during the Nonprofit Leadership Conference. This is the winning haiku: Survivors are safe They are sleeping in our beds Our beds need pillows Because of her, Turning Pointe received a certificate and a $500 check! Way to go Becky!

#MissionMonday "Many clients joined for The Lucky Day event, including a few staff members. During this event, we learned about behavior management charts (the adults were impressed with how simple it was). The older Youth did their own charts and were very honest with discussions about their behaviors. The younger children naturally took more guidance but the parent-child interactions were very positive. Then we played lucky day bingo with the awesome bingo cards Maddie made, enjoyed some crafts, and ate cookies. Maddie came up with the idea for these once-a-month events and it is one of my favorite parts of my job. I really enjoy creating an environment of connection and belonging through these events and being able to model gentle guidance and boundary setting with the youth in front of the parents makes a huge impact." - JenieLynn, Youth Advocate

#SpotlightSaturday Dotty, we cannot thank you enough for these incredible handmade quilts and hooded towels for the youth. It resonated with us when you said every child deserves their own special blanket. Your talent and creativity shine through in every detail of the items you make. We are genuinely touched by the time and effort you put into supporting our mission. You have become family to all of us at Turning Pointe. Thank you!

#MidweekMention Please join us in thanking the Salish Rotary for their incredible work last Saturday. Including two extra volunteers, there were a total of 12 people working diligently to get the shelter organized. We are in the process of switching our closets around and that is not an easy task. Thanks to these volunteers, the project has came a long way. We will be sharing photos of the new and improved clothing closet when it is complete. Thank you to everyone who helped that day and to our fabulous Business Manager Julia for leading the work party.

#MissionMonday "As I was giving a tour to a new volunteer, a client stopped us to say how deeply grateful she was. She shared that her new motto is ‘too blessed to be stressed' and that 'one of the advocates is even watching my dog right now so I can finally take a shower. Thank you so much for everything you all are doing!' Hearing positive feedback about our services and the level of comfort they feel staying here truly warms my heart." - Courtney, Community Engagement Specialist
